Coveris Invests €1.8 Million to Enhance Production in Poland
Coveris, a prominent European flexible packaging manufacturer, is bolstering its operations in Central and Eastern Europe with a €1.8 million investment in two Polish manufacturing plants. This strategic move aims to enhance production capabilities, increase efficiency, and improve consumer functionality across its packaging offerings for food, pet food, and personal care sectors.
CEO Christian Kolarik emphasized the importance of technology investments in driving growth and customer support. The upgrades will expand production capacity, enhance flexibility, and ensure faster delivery of high-quality products to meet the demands of competitive markets.
Key advancements include the installation of a SOMA Proxima high-speed printing press, which allows for mainstream wide web applications to operate at speeds of up to 400 meters per minute. This investment is expected to boost annual capacity by approximately 30%, while also providing quicker turnaround times and improved operational efficiency for high-volume packaging formats.
Additionally, Coveris has acquired a LEMO bag-making machine capable of producing wicketted bags in various sizes, processing CPP, LDPE, and HDPE films at a rate of 550 bags per minute. This enhancement will cater to the bakery, produce, and personal care markets, enabling shorter lead times and scalable production to address fluctuating demand.
To further improve functionality, Coveris has implemented laser scoring technology for flexible packaging formats, such as stand-up pouches and flat-bottom bags. This innovation allows for precise opening features, enhancing consumer convenience and providing food and pet food brands with improved on-shelf differentiation.
These investments position Poland as a key growth hub for Coveris in the CEE region, combining advanced production technologies with scalable capacity to deliver high-quality packaging solutions and support future innovations.
