UFlex Secures Patent for Innovative Reclosable Packaging Solution

UFlex Limited, a leader in flexible packaging solutions in India, has been granted a 20-year patent for its innovative reclosable flexible package designed for large format bags. This new packaging technology, titled “A Reclosable Flexible Package with Enhanced Barrier Protection,” is particularly beneficial for products that require repeated access, such as pet food, coffee, protein supplements, and various industrial materials.

The patented design features a secure reclosure mechanism, tamper detection, and enhanced barrier protection, ensuring that products remain safe from moisture, oxygen, and contaminants throughout their lifecycle. A unique protective layer beneath the zipper assembly prevents access to the contents without tearing, providing a clear indication of tampering.

This innovation addresses the growing demand for large-format packaging that not only contains products but also maintains their integrity and security. According to Mr. Jeevaraj Gopal Pillai, President of Flexible Packaging and New Product Development at UFlex, the packaging must provide confidence to consumers that it has not been opened prior to purchase, especially for items susceptible to tampering and counterfeiting.

The flexible packaging solution is adaptable, allowing barrier properties to be customized for different products, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in food, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.
