Siegwerk Strengthens Position in India’s Flexible Packaging Market with Hi-Tech Inks Acquisition

Siegwerk, a leading global provider of printing inks and coatings, has announced its acquisition of Hi-Tech Inks, a prominent Indian manufacturer of flexographic and gravure printing inks. This strategic move is set to enhance Siegwerk’s footprint in India’s rapidly expanding flexible packaging sector, positioning the combined entity as the largest player in the market with over 20% share.

The acquisition reflects Siegwerk’s commitment to India and the broader Asian market, which are critical to the company’s growth strategy. By integrating Hi-Tech Inks’ diverse portfolio of solvent- and water-based inks, special-effect inks, and varnishes, Siegwerk aims to deliver increased value and innovation to packaging converters and brand owners.

With manufacturing facilities in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, and Vapi, Gujarat, the acquisition will bolster Siegwerk’s operational capacity and resilience, employing approximately 1,700 individuals across India. Ashish Pradhan, President of Siegwerk Asia, emphasized the alignment of values between the two companies, stating that the acquisition will enhance their ability to serve customers with greater scale and innovation.

Karan Mahajan, Managing Director of Hi-Tech Inks, noted that joining Siegwerk represents a significant milestone for their company, allowing for new opportunities in growth and customer value delivery.

The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks, marking Siegwerk’s most significant acquisition since 2005. This development underscores the company’s dedication to advancing technologies and sustainable solutions in the Indian packaging industry, paving the way for future innovation and growth.
