Mainetti has unveiled its new M-Film flexible packaging range, targeting retail and apparel sectors as part of its commitment to sustainability and circular economy initiatives. The portfolio includes various packaging formats made from recyclable plastics and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper, catering to global brands such as Amazon, Gap, Columbia Sportswear, and Lululemon.

The M-Film range features nine distinct material alternatives designed to meet diverse operational needs. Notably, M-FILM Bio-Based is crafted from renewable biomass, including sugarcane, and utilizes bio-based polyethylene (PE), achieving carbon-negative status throughout its lifecycle.

Additionally, M-FILM Pulp, made from FSC-certified wood pulp, offers a compostable option that is lightweight, heat-sealable, and provides a reliable barrier against oxygen and moisture. For dissolvable applications, M-FILM Dissolve is a water-soluble film made from polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) that dissolves completely in water or composting systems, leaving no microplastics. Lastly, M-FILM Recycled is a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film composed of up to 100% recycled polymer, maintaining high transparency comparable to virgin materials.

Manufacturing of the M-Film range occurs across 14 Mainetti facilities worldwide. Jeffrey Hsu, Mainetti’s chief product and commercial officer, emphasized the varying definitions of sustainability among retailers and brands, stating, “With M-Film, we’ve built a portfolio flexible enough to meet brands wherever their sustainability priorities sit.” This launch marks an expansion of Mainetti’s flexible packaging operations, following recent investments in paper hanging solutions and manufacturing capacity in Asia.
