Esko and Scantrust have successfully completed a new integration that connects Esko’s Automation Engine and WebCenter packaging management solutions with Scantrust’s software. This integration aims to simplify the addition of variable data to packaging artwork, particularly for consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies.

The integration facilitates the automated generation and printing of unique, secure, and serialized QR codes directly onto product packaging, streamlining the go-to-market process for brands. Jan De Roeck, Esko’s Marketing Director, emphasized that the collaboration seeks to lower the barriers traditionally associated with implementing variable data in packaging design, enhancing both brand value and consumer experience.

Nathan Anderson, CEO of Scantrust, noted that the integration supports brands in building trust through item-level traceability and consumer engagement. The system allows for the automated creation and embedding of QR codes, minimizing manual intervention and enhancing workflow efficiency.

Key benefits of the Esko-Scantrust integration include:
Automated Workflow: The Variable Data Printing (VDP) module automates the creation of unique QR codes, reducing the need for manual processes.
Brand Protection: Each QR code serves as a digital identifier, enhancing traceability and providing anti-counterfeiting features.
Consumer Engagement: On-pack codes facilitate direct connections between brands and consumers, offering additional product information and integrating with loyalty programs.
Supply Chain Traceability: The integration allows for tracking products from production to the consumer, improving supply chain transparency.
Scalability: The system can handle various production volumes, from small businesses to large-scale operations, efficiently printing millions of unique codes.
Compliance: The integration adheres to industry standards, including GS1 Digital Link, and supports features like Amazon’s anti-counterfeiting system.

This collaboration marks a significant advancement in connecting physical packaging with digital data management, paving the way for a new era of ‘connected’ packaging solutions. For further details, visit Scantrust or Esko.
