Amcor, a global leader in responsible packaging solutions, has announced the expansion of its facility in Lugo di Vicenza, Italy, to enhance the production of recyclable packaging. This investment includes a new manufacturing line, laboratory, and warehouse, aimed at meeting the growing demand for high-barrier recycle-ready films across various sectors, including food, beverage, pet food, and healthcare.
The expanded facility, covering nearly 7,000 m², is designed to support the entire production process of high-barrier films, featuring a quality control laboratory and an automated warehouse with temperature-controlled chambers to ensure consistent packaging quality. Among the new products is AmLite HeatFlex™, a material designed for retort applications that offers recyclability without compromising barrier properties.
Elena Peron, Plant General Manager, emphasized the importance of this expansion in supporting Amcor’s commitment to making all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable. This initiative aligns with the European Union’s Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which mandates that brands transition to recycle-ready packaging by 2030. Amcor’s proactive approach positions it as a leader in providing sustainable solutions that meet regulatory requirements and consumer expectations for improved sustainability.
